Speaker 1:

It can't be broken. Podcast. I'm your host, sea Monster, and before I get started on Sea Monster's mind, I just want to kind of tell everybody that I'm going to be doing more of these than interviewing people. I've been going on, I'm going on two years almost in doing these podcasts and getting people and interviewing them and learning from them and having them on, and it's been an amazing journey learning, growing, asking questions, learning how to be behind this mic, listen to your own voice and learning how you mess up a lot and learn to laugh about it and learn about it and move forward. But I find it that I want to leave something that I that I have to say more than anything to the people I love the most, and I think my mindset, the Sea Monster mindset and I think that is where I want to continue more of this dialogue of of leaving behind. It is also, to be honest, very hard to find people that want to be on here or have the time or make the time to be on here, and some of it is my fault for not asking or not doing something else, but I feel like it's easier to just, it's easier for me to just get on here and speak from experience, from failure, from growth and and share, and so I just wanted to put that out there really quick While we move forward into this next episode of the Sea Monster mindset on challenges and trust.

Speaker 1:

And you know, every day is a challenge and those, those challenges that we seek challenges like getting a good grade in school, playing another team and being competitive and challenging yourself to do better and be better and be that team, and the challenge of growth in a company and a job and applying for a better position and more pay those are the challenges we seek, a race to win. We seek those challenges and we embrace them and we get inspired by them and motivated and driven and we seek to to overcome them. But the ones we don't seek, the challenges we hate the most, are the ones that we have a hard time accepting. Challenges like injuries, getting fired or unemployed from a job you didn't get the sale that you were hoping you pitched to somebody that you would get, challenges that you do not seek or like or want. Those are the ones Because they're challenges we don't want, we don't like them, it's hard to accept them and we search for an answer. And how do you get that answer. How do you grow from it, how do you learn from it and how do you get better?

Speaker 1:

You change your perception. You learn to accept them, that it is there, that it is happening, that you have to accept it right now because it is done, and you change your perception. You look at it differently. You look at it as the biggest challenge ever to overcome in a positive way. How you're going to grow from this and what plan are you going to take to overcome this? Those are the things that you need to be thinking about.

Speaker 1:

When you have an unwanted challenge those challenges you are not seeking you need to accept it, change your perception and have a plan of attack. And if you do those three things and you embrace that, you will change. You will be different, you will overcome adversity and you will grow differently. But if you don't, if you continue to complain about it, make excuses about it, not have a plan of attack, don't perceive it in a certain way, then you will be stuck there and when you finally overcome it, it will be longer and you will not have grown into a different person, a better person, a better version of yourself. You need to ask yourself why is this happening and say it happened for a reason. Go down or it happened for a reason, so I can grow from this, so I can be better and understand and you will overcome quicker, you will be better and you will learn. I hope that helps on times of challenges when we all go through them. We all go through different challenges in our lives that are unwanted An unwanted failure of a marriage, an unwanted cheating, an unwanted grade on a class, an accident, a vehicle accident, a fall from a bicycle, unwanted challenges. I hope we all grow from that and learn and whatnot.

Speaker 1:

But the other thing I want to talk about is trust. One of the things that one of the traits and most important trait in winning, in overcoming, in being successful, in being the best, is trust. From Navy SEALs to the biggest company like Walmart, mcdonald's, to relationships, everything begins with trust and then every other trait comes in there. How do you get trust? Well, trust requires three things.

Speaker 1:

In order to have it, you need to be credible. Credible is when a person's experience, skills and qualities, their credentials, are credible. They've proven it to you through their skills and their experience and their qualities and who they are. You need to have that. You need to show that Reliability is a consistent and regular behavior. You do what you say you're going to do and people believe that. You say you're going to be there at 7 am. You're going to do it, so do it. Be reliable. People rely on you and they believe in you that you're credible and you're reliable. And lastly, interpersonal connection the knowledge of another person that leads to a bond or a connection. We have the same interests, the same goals, same vision. You have bonded with that person, that team, and understand that winning is everything. A world series is everything. A championship, growth of the company, growth in the relationship and A in the class too, that's gonna get you college bound. That's how you gain trust through credibility, reliability and an interpersonal connection.

Speaker 1:

But how do you lose trust? How does trust get lost? Well, through self-interest, self-ego. You think about yourself only. You do not think about the ultimate overall team goal, your feelings, your emotions. You matter most and when you do that, you break the credibility, the reliability and, mainly, the interpersonal connection that it takes to win, that it takes to gain trust. And that is the most important trait that you can have in order to win at anything. So, while you're going through life and while you're doing your thing, remember to embrace challenges, have a different perspective, have a plan of attack and grow differently. And remember that your word is your bond and to create trust is the most important trait in anything. So make sure you're credible, reliable and have a connection. Remember you can't be broken. Covid has ruined new opportunities and opportunities for you.
